Paul Garces, President & CEO
As President of Beacon Consulting Group, Paul Garces brings 30 years of experience to organizations as an educator, consultant, training designer and facilitator. In addition to his work as an executive coach with CEOs and their senior teams, he has worked with organizations to raise levels of adaptability and accountability in the workforce. Paul works with senior teams in the arena of strategy execution, to help them frame their vision, and gain alignment to the company strategy. He has focused his practice in recent years on organizational behavior and diagnosis, change management, program effectiveness, and leadership development in some of the world's leading strategy consulting firms.
In addition, he has lectured before the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, the International Management Development Institute (IMDI), and the Asian Productivity Organization.
Before starting his firm, Mr. Garces served as Corporate Director of Human Resource Planning and Development for Union Camp Corporation, a leading paper and forest-products company. In that capacity, he was responsible for the development of programs in long-range planning, performance management, training, career planning, and professional placement.
Prior to that, Mr. Garces was associated with two consulting firms: The Forum Corporation, in Boston, and the Sterling Institute, in Washington D.C. At these firms, he served in management positions in product planning and operations, marketing, and sales.
Mr. Garces has extensive training experience both in the United States and abroad. A native of Colombia, he is fluent in Spanish. His work in Latin America includes the development of systematic and comprehensive upward mobility and performance appraisal programs, and in culturally correct language translation of sales and management-development programs.
Paul has developed several copyrighted simulations in use for leadership development, including the Hanford In-Basket, the Secrag RaceTrack Simulation, and numerous assessment and team building instruments. Additionally, Paul has earned certificate qualification from several organizations in a variety of seminars and diagnostic instruments. Mr. Garces was a McMullen Scholar at Cornell University's School of Engineering, and holds a B.A. in economics and history from the University of Virginia. He is currently serving as honorary director of Top Management Programs for the IMDI. He currently serves on the Leadership Council of Horizon's for Homeless Children, a non-profit charity in Boston.
On a personal note, Paul enjoys reading historical non-fiction, woodworking, home-restoration projects, golf, playing the banjo and playing with his brand new Golden Retriever, Cali. He has two daughters, Lindsay and Amanda, and resides in Dedham, Massachusetts.
